Rodeway Inn Wytheville near I-77 and I-81

This place is nasty. The carpet is awful, the bedding needs updating, and the stained sink and tub have mold. They rent to homeless people and people getting out of jail on one side of the motel, and there are drug addicts all around. If you want somewhere better, go farther up the street.

We arrived at 5 pm, but no one was at the desk. We rang the buzzer and waited 15 minutes, then called the front desk, with no answer. We’d booked through Choice Hotels, so we called their customer support and got the reservation changed to a nearby hotel. Once home, we found that this hotel had charged our card for the stay. We called Choice again. Their records said we’d checked in and out here, even though we hadn’t signed anything or seen anyone. Choice tried to call Rodeway to sort it out, but Rodeway didn’t answer them either. Don’t waste your money here. They’ll take it, and they’re shady. This turned me against Rodeway Inn. Choice was very helpful, but Rodeway Inn sucks.

The inside really does look like the pictures, with attractive decor and a nice overall feel. The outside is a bit rough, honestly, but for the price it’s worth it. I’d recommend it and would stay here again while traveling through.

The rooms are clean, and the prices are reasonable when you book online. The owner could use some work on customer service, though. He tends to overcharge when it suits him.
