Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham Yakima

The room was clean and pleasant enough, though a little dated. We came for the pool, and it was outstanding. Staff were courteous and happy to talk with us about food nearby and a few things to do. The hotel restaurant closed a couple of years ago, but the bar opens at 5 p.m. right by the pool. I'd like to return with our kids so they can enjoy it too.

The restaurant food in the lobby was excellent, though the service wasn't what I usually expect, and some silverware had spots. The rooms smelled nice and were generally clean, but the bathroom disappointed me. It didn't feel properly cleaned, so I wiped it down myself with cleaning wipes from home. The microwave was a little dirty too, though not as bad. The pillows were just okay, not close to good, and I hope they're washed better for other guests' health and experience. My stay at Howard Johnson Plaza was good, but not great. I'd give it 3.5 stars. I might not recommend it to close friends, but it's not the worst place. A few things need fixing for it to be five-star.

The bathroom was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean and smelled nice. The hotel seemed pretty empty, so we couldn't figure out why we were placed so far from the main building. We're looking forward to breakfast in the morning. I'd stay at a Howard Johnson again without hesitation.

The food was superb, the room was good value, and the staff are excellent. They go out of their way, and that reflects well on management. I would prefer it if they got rid of the TVs, since it's 2017 and who watches TV on a TV? The business center computer also needs updating every couple of years. Still, it's an excellent hotel.
