Bayside Resort Hotel

The marsh out back was beautiful, and the staff we met were very nice. Our room was clean and ready. I was pleasantly surprised by breakfast, which gave us a great start to the day. My grandkids had a great time at the arcade and in the pool. We'd go back.

The breakfast was nice, the pool was well maintained, and the owner was friendly at check-in. But the rooms had a constant, incredibly unpleasant odor, and they're outdated, including the old cable TV, which isn't a smart TV. Noise was also terrible from 8 p.m. to midnight in rooms by the pool or bar. Kids ran up and down the halls, and the thin walls made it even louder. We went in January, so I can only imagine how noisy it might be in June. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The indoor pool was nice, but the outdoor one isn't heated, so it was basically unusable this time of year. The picture window was smaller than we expected, and the room smelled like farts, which was odd. There was no fan in the room or bathroom, so getting air circulation or noise reduction meant running the AC or heat and changing the room temperature. Fire pits were nice, but they stayed open until 11, so rooms with a view should expect noise. The fitness center was outdated, with some function unavailable on most machines. On the plus side, the bathroom clothesline was a neat touch, the fridge was bigger than at other places we've stayed, and there were lots of birds to watch in the marsh. Breakfast was at the low end of what you'd expect from a continental spread. It was okay, but just not worth the price when there are so many nicer and cheaper options around.

Nice staff and an amazing breakfast, and the hotel itself was good. I didn't like that lots of machines in the game room were broken but still took my money. When I asked the front desk for a refund, they said they don't own the machines.
