I had a terrible experience with the cash payment and the way staff handled it. I paid $100 cash for the first night after the man at the desk said on the phone and in person that he preferred cash. I gave them a copy of my license at check-in, but no receipt. I was booked for three nights. The next morning, the woman at the desk, who had been there when I checked in, acted as if she had never seen me and said I had not paid. She had sold my room to someone else. When I asked for a receipt and the name of the man who took my money, she ignored me and refused to tell me. She said the room was no longer available and she couldn't give me a receipt. An angry man who looked like a janitor came over when I asked for a manager. He insulted me and called me names, asking if I was calling his workers liars while I tried to explain what happened. Another guest came in with the same problem, having paid cash the day before without getting a receipt, and they gave her one on the spot. I had to threaten to call the police before the so-called manager finally gave me a little register tape. It had no hotel or stay dates on it, only “cash 100.00” and “Bobby.” I assume Bobby was the man arguing with me, though he wouldn't give me his name either. I think this place is fraudulent and the people running it are dishonest. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of lovely places around the Cape. The rooms were dirty, too, and during the outage they never cleared the ice from the parking lot for guests. I wish I'd read more reviews before staying. Scroll down and you'll see similar stories. The people at the desk want cash and don't provide a proper receipt. I heard them offer other guests a better deal if they paid cash as well.

The room itself was nice, clean and spacious, with very comfortable beds. We had the deluxe two queen bedroom, and it was handy having a soap dispenser by the sink. The bathroom was all in one place. The shower products were shampoo and conditioner in one plus shower gel. My fiancé thought they were moderate to good and cleansing; I used my own. There was a fridge with a small freezer and a coffee maker in the room, but for a microwave or ice you had to cross the parking lot to the common room. You need your key card to get into that room and to dispense the ice. The room also had a list saying they wouldn't accommodate last-minute cleaning requests and that you could get toiletries and sheets at the front desk. We were there for just two days and asked for cleaning, but nobody came. Why ask if the service won't happen? It felt very disrespectful not to follow through. The receptionist was also the cleaner. At checkout she shamelessly asked us to leave a review, which I did, though it wasn't going to be all positive. My fiancé asked at check-in if we could switch to a bay-view room for the first night since one was available to book, but she said no because it was too much work. She asked for the usual identification at the desk. There was an older gentleman working there too, and he was kind and respectful, but the woman is almost always at reception and isn't pleasant to deal with. The view was decent in fall, with pretty trees, but we could hear cars on Main St. all day even with the door closed. Heading west was difficult because traffic was awful; east and then a U-turn seemed the best bet.

The room was tidy and clean, and that bed was so good I was out in no time. The walls let through a bit of noise, but for the price and location this is fantastic value. Definitely worth considering.

The rooms are about what you'd expect for the price, a little worn, with creaky floors upstairs and down. The grounds are clean, and the firepits and seating out back are amazing. The pools are clean, especially the indoor one. I'd definitely stay again.
