Chapter House

The grounds were nice, but the outdoor seating was always covered and the fires were never lit, even though we were told they would be. The bar might have been cool if it had ever been open. We stayed two nights for convenience, but I wouldn't return. This hotel made me feel catfished. It's very old and run-down and badly needs a major facelift. Even a new coat of paint and better interior design would help. There were cobwebs everywhere, especially on the lamps in the room, plus a strange smell and a very odd vibe. I also think they delete negative reviews, so I'll be curious whether this one appears.

Cool history, but a bad place overall. I wouldn't recommend spending your money here when there are plenty of better places around. The bartender on Friday night, 10/31/2025, was one of the biggest jerks I've ever dealt with in the service industry, and I've been a Cape Cod local for 30 years. As soon as 9pm hit, he called us derogatory names and kicked us out because we tipped 15% for taking the caps off three beers. I'd give zero stars if I could, based on the service alone.

We chose the Chapter House because we had reservations at the Ed Gorey house next door and wanted somewhere nearby to rest after our cross-country flight. The room was small but tidy and had everything we needed for a good night's sleep. It was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. If you're in the area looking for a place to stay, I'd give the Chapter House a try.

Jim and his team made us feel very welcome, and the facility and the home are lovely. We enjoyed coffee on the patio in the morning, the GORgeous landscaping, and drinks at the hotel bar at the end of the day. Our room was cute, clean, tidy, and comfortable, just not fancy, so I gave the rooms four stars. Thank you, Jim!
