Hampton Inn & Suites Cape Cod-West Yarmouth

We brought our five-month-old puppy, and they welcomed him along with the other dogs. There were two good dog potty areas. The breakfast was great, and we loved the fresh cookies every evening. Coffee and tea were always available, and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Renovations were underway, but barely affected our stay. It was clean aside from the expected debris from the work.

The hotel was very clean and had a nice mix of Cape Cod “chique” and familiarity. Still, the beds were quite firm, so side sleepers should know that wasn't my favorite. All the doors slam, the walls are thin, and the elevator hum is very noticeable. I asked for an accessible room and was told at check-in that I'd gotten one, but it was on the second floor. There is an elevator, though that's a bit inconvenient. More than that, the room wasn't accessible at all: it had one short table and no room for a wheelchair.

The staff were the best part of our blizzard night. We're local and had lost power with a new infant at home, and the woman who answered my call kindly said we could wait in the lobby with our kids until a room was ready. At check-in, the front desk was helpful too, and every staff member I met was kind, smiling, and ready to help. The hotel is clean and cozy, the kids are having a ball in the pool, and fresh baked cookies showed up in the lobby at 8. I wish there were a restaurant, but the free breakfast was a definite plus, with waffles, bacon, eggs, cereal, and more. There's always hot coffee in the lobby too. 10/10. I only wish I'd thought to book two nights instead of one!

The free breakfast was thinner than what I usually see at Hampton Inns, and the in-room coffee maker was missing parts, so it didn't work. My bathroom and shower water stayed warm at best, no matter how long I ran it. The curtains were frayed in several places, and the hallways looked dingy. In my room and bathroom, the interior trim was discolored or coming off the walls. Like most Hampton Inns, this West Yarmouth, Massachusetts location was mostly clean and comfortable, but unlike many, it really needs updating. With so many motels closed along Route 28, maybe I should just be glad this one was still there.
