Sunbird ANNEX Resort

The pool was a family favorite, clean and furnished with all new furniture. Our kids also loved the basketball court and sitting by the cozy fire pit in the evenings. The hotel was spotless, and the complimentary breakfast was fresh, well stocked and had something for everyone. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, with friendly, professional service from check-in through check-out. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return. I’d recommend it to anyone after a clean, friendly place for the family.

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, with an open clothes rod, microwave, refrigerator and a good-sized TV. There was no chair, and the hot water took a little while to heat up. I’m sure they would have provided a chair if I’d asked. I worried at first that the mattress might be too soft, but slept soundly and woke without discomfort, which was a pleasant surprise since I have back issues. I even called after getting home to ask what model the bed was. The young woman at the desk laughed, was polite and checked for me. Breakfast was in a clean room, with basic choices including cereal, coffee, hot food and fruit. Check-in was quick, easy and pleasant. We were in town for a funeral, not a vacation, and stayed only one night under sad circumstances. I wish we’d had longer. The staff we met were all lovely, and the stay was clean, comfortable and good value. I’d happily seek this hotel out again when we return to the Hyannis/Cape Cod area, and can recommend it.

We checked in a few days ago, but left almost right away, even though it was late and the drive home was long. The check-in itself was easy, but the service was impolite. Our first room was dirty and looked used, so we went back to the office for another. The staff were impolite again. The replacement room smelled strongly of minty cleaning fumes and still felt dirty, especially the bathroom, sink area and mattress. After seeing the first room, we couldn’t trust that the second was clean. We only wanted an inexpensive night’s stay while exploring the area before our baby arrives, but the place felt unsafe and sketchy. We chose to lose the money and go home rather than risk staying.

The rooms themselves were really clean and had good storage. It was also easy to find, with stores like CVS and Dollar Tree nearby for inexpensive beach supplies. Still, at 2.5 stars, we had several problems. The check-in office was confusing to locate at first, and vending machines were empty or broken. The pool was dingy, with dirty towels scattered around and even in the water, and no clean towels available. Unsupervised kids took over the whole pool. There was no parking on our second night. It’s kid-friendly, but feels like a free-for-all, so look elsewhere if you want quiet or a chance to relax.
