Sands by the Sea Motel

A simple place, but just what we wanted from a New England beach hotel. It was clean, convenient, and in a great location, with really nice, informative staff. The beach gets crazy crowded before noon, so having the hotel pool was crucial for our toddlers. Perfect for little families. Can’t wait to book again.

We first found Sands by the Sea in 2007, when my wife and I began visiting York Beach every year. We still think it’s the best spot in Short Sands, right in the middle of everything. The zoo, beach, restaurants, arcade, and plenty more are just a short walk away. There’s a nice pool and patio, clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff.

Everything here made us happy. Sam was awesome with room service, the bed was comfortable, and the rooms were very clean. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The location was perfect, especially for a handicapped person.

This was our second family vacation in York and our first time at this motel. We liked it enough to make it our annual stay. Being able to walk across the street to the beach would be reason enough, and having the pool to return to in the evening made it perfect. There are plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance, so the car can stay parked all week. The front desk was extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms are a little dated and room service was spotty, but those are my only complaints. Already looking forward to next year!
