We were disappointed. The rooms had clean sheets and towels, but there was thick dust on the walls and fixtures, and the switches, touch points, carpet, and bathroom weren't clean. Mold covered painted areas near the top of the shower and the grout. The closet door in the main room was quite dirty, and I eventually started wiping down the touch points myself. Historic shouldn't mean unclean. Our executive suite had two rooms: a bedroom with a dresser and TV, and a basic hotel room with a sofa, bed, dresser, desk, and TV. The main room's mini fridge was inside the dresser. It wasn't plugged in and smelled bad at first, though the odor went away once it was cold. The bathroom was tiny, with a small shower and pedestal sink. Smoking wasn't allowed in the rooms, but air coming through the intake seemed to come from near a smoking area, since the room periodically smelled of cigarettes throughout our stay. The road outside is busy, so there was traffic noise. The pool is small and right by the parking lot; we didn't use it. The hot tub was covered and didn't look available. In the lobby, there was a table with a computer and printer that seemed intended for guests, though there was no sign saying so either way. Breakfast is also in the lobby. They had coffee, two kinds of cold cereal, bread and a toaster, packaged mini muffins, fresh fruit, waffle supplies and a waffle maker, milk, watered-down juice, butter, and jelly.

I booked two nights for a business trip because the photos looked good and the hotel was near downtown. I left early because the room was so bad, and neither the hotel nor its parent company refunded the second night. The place seemed empty, so I doubt I got the worst room simply because nothing else was available. There was old food under the bed, no shower soap or shampoo (only hand soap), peeling paint, and mold in the tub. Traffic noise stayed loud all night through the poor insulation, and I woke up to roaches in the bathroom.

We won't stay there again. It's gone downhill since our last visit: the towels were pathetic, and the microwave was filthy and missing its carousel. Fourth Street is like a drag strip, with the fire station right behind the hotel, so it was terribly noisy. Breakfast is no longer served in the cafe, just a sad waffle maker in the lobby.

The worst part was finding that someone connected to the motel had gone into our room despite the do not disturb sign. When I went to get medication from the nightstand, a couple of items were missing. I told the front desk right away; she said no one should have entered, then said she'd check and get back to me after I explained what made me sure someone had been in and what was gone. I never want to stay here again. I've stayed here many times over the past few years, and the staff and service used to be great. Since the new ownership, things have kept going downhill. On this last visit, the coffee pot didn't work and the rooms weren't as well kept. The suite had just one washcloth, one hand towel, two bath towels, and a small bar of soap, with all the dispensers empty. We usually stay two to four nights and pay $100.00+ per night.

For under $100 a night, this older hotel is a great value for work, and I'll stay again whenever I'm in town. I was traveling alone on business and checked in at 8:45 pm. The front desk woman was kind and placed me near the lobby in a well-lit area. Parking right outside my room was great. Yuma Landing is nearby, with good wings and easy takeout ordering. The hotel is right by a freeway entrance, and I heard sirens from the nearby sheriff's office, but they didn't bother me. I felt safe on my own.
