OYO Hotel Yuma AZ - I-8/US-95

I waited outside on the property for 30 minutes for a "host" and ended up cancelling and finding another local cheap hotel. They checked me in right away, and it was clean and great. This place wasted my time. I’d booked ahead through Priceline, but when I arrived there was no host to check me in. A rude, clearly irritated woman called someone and acted as a third party while I waited. She pointed me to a room, but had no authority to check me in, no key, and no way for me to pay. I looked inside and it was completely filthy and in disrepair. I stay in plenty of low end places for work, and this one takes the cake. You couldn’t pay me to stay here. Have a host on site, clean the rooms, paint them, and work on customer service or close this place for good. I can’t recommend the Oyo to anyone.

I was exhausted, but I’d rather have slept in my car. I drove about 20 minutes down the road and found somewhere nice for $40 more, which was totally worth it. This place felt so unsafe, something I’ve never felt at a motel. There were mattresses in the parking lot, broken chairs, and junk everywhere. The room didn’t look like the photo, and the comforter looked rumpled, like someone had been there. It smelled bad, and some people looked like they were on drugs. The manager was nice, but that doesn’t make up for the misleading photos or the lack of care for the property.

The location would have been okay, and check in went fine, but we didn’t stay because the room wasn’t good. The manager was very nice and apologized, saying he felt bad that the pictures on the site didn’t match the actual rooms. We found another place to spend our time in Yuma.

These are the best rooms in town for the price. They’re not five-star rooms, but if you need somewhere to stay on very little money, this is the place. The managers make the difference. Rooms are clean, bedding is clean, and it’s quiet and safe.
