SpringHill Suites by Marriott Yuma

The front desk staff used to be excellent, but not so much anymore. The room was gross: mildew on the shower grout and caulk, a dirty, mildewed shower curtain, and dried food on the end table. I can't believe anyone thought it was okay to rent it out. This place used to be decent.

We needed to book well in advance since this Springhill Suites is popular with government employees and military. The staff were helpful throughout, whether bringing a fresh pot of coffee or extending breakfast a little longer. The Marriott-style breakfast had fresh ingredients, plenty of scrambled eggs and sausage, fruit, and condiments. The downstairs public space was roomy, with several spots suitable for working, and the lobby, downstairs bathroom, and pool area stayed clean and orderly. Parking was adequate on both sides of the hotel and well lit. Cracker Barrel is an easy walk down the street. Our room was clean and comfortable, with furniture and a bed in good condition. We liked that the window opened a little for fresh air. The only drawback was the lack of conveniently placed outlets, probably because the property is older. Looking forward to coming back.

The staff were all friendly, and breakfast ran from 7 to 10. Everything else was good, but I felt the hotel cost much more than it should have. At $194, I expected something a little nicer for Yuma, Arizona. For what I got, I think the room should've been no more than about $120.

The location was great, and the staff were friendly. The breakfast attendant was especially amazing, attentive, and kept the tables and area clean. I asked to be placed away from the highway, but was told both sides faced it. We ended up on the highway end anyway, which was a little disappointing. The room felt somewhat dated, and the pullout trundle had a strange plastic cover that was loud and uncomfortable.
