I loved falling asleep in our little hut among the dunes with the sound of the waves coming through the window. Ajo Aloja has such a warm, homelike feel. Alex and Ajo were kind and helpful, and Alex worked around what we needed for the room. The spot is right by the beach and peaceful, yet only about a five-minute walk from the bars and restaurants. There’s a guest kitchen, running water, hot showers, and LED lights, though the place is still rustic, as you’d expect in Cabo. I didn’t use the kitchen much because the vegan chef’s food was so good. She made healthy, delicious meals with care, and I wanted to eat there as often as I could.

Alex was a lovely, helpful host, and moved us to another room after the person next door kept us awake all night with the worst snoring we’d ever heard. Still, I felt Ajo Aloja cost too much for what it offered. It’s more ramshackle than chic, and didn’t seem especially clean or well looked after. Cabo may have a shabby-chic reputation, but we saw other hostels there at the same price that were better maintained and more organised.

The place may be small, but it was my favourite stay in Cabo Polonio. It was quiet, and I felt like I belonged there, with everyone getting along like one big family. The host really looked after us, and you could tell he cared. I’d recommend it if you’re hoping to meet lovely, caring people. You get a peaceful setting right on the beach, with beautiful sunrises too.

Ajo and Alondra made us feel completely at home, and the hostel itself is lovely, clean, and nicely equipped in the kitchen. It has a beautiful rustic style. A great place to slow down and get away from the city.
