The owner is nice, the location is fantastic, and the price is great for a budget stay. There’s food available, but we didn’t eat there because it was VERY expensive, though the place is remote, remember. The hostel seems to rely on its bar and restaurant, so there’s a party atmosphere and noise. If you want to really disconnect, I guess there are other places, but they cost more. The rooms are tiny, incredibly warm, and impractical, with no mosquito nets. Some staff seemed to have nets in their rooms, so it would’ve been nice for guests to have them too. The kitchen lighting is poor, so you need a headlamp. Charging is chaotic, though there’s nothing the place can do about it, so bring a charged power bank. The volunteers seemed to be in their own world, which is fine, but we didn’t feel very welcome by them, except for the owner.

The thing that made nights miserable was the mosquitoes. More than ten got into our room each night through gaps between the roof and walls, and we were bitten a lot. Blankets weren’t a realistic way to protect ourselves in summer heat, and all our attempts to deal with them failed. They really need mosquito nets. We stayed three nights in a private room. The location is excellent, between two beaches and near the terminal and the only supermarket. But the room felt like an attic, with a ceiling so low I couldn’t stand straight, even though I’m only 167 cm tall. The kitchen could be cleaner and better equipped, though it’s usable. Everything else was fine, except sleeping because of the mosquitoes.

After our first evening at Lobo Hostel, I already felt at home. We spent about three nights there on an exciting trip to Cabo Polonio, and everyone was helpful and relaxed. The food was delicious every time, freshly made too. We had all kinds of homemade stone oven pizzas, as well as vegetarian curry.

This rating is only for the bar and restaurant meal. Everything was great and cooked fresh to order. The Pollo Milanese, tapioca quesadilla, and curry pescador were stellar. The girls also loved the fresh smoothie, made right in front of them with the fruit they chose.

We stopped in for lunch on a cold September day in winter and were so glad we found this place. The staff were super friendly, the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself is really cozy.
