A lovely family-run hostel, with friendly people around and a good price.

Easy place to visit by bike.
Just average.
The room had awful mattresses, the bedding smelled strange, and there was just one outlet for all 12 of us. There were no lockers for our bags, so we had to sleep with them or tuck them under the bed. The room's Wi-Fi didn't work, and the signal downstairs was poor too. One bathroom door wouldn't lock, so we had to shower or use the toilet hoping no one else would walk in. We'd been robbed in Montevidéu and wanted a little peace of mind, but the host made fun of our situation when we asked about the eight-person room we'd seen in the photos. He said there wasn't one, told us the place was safe, and put us in a room for 12. Breakfast was just bread, butter, and coffee. That was okay for our group, but the photos made it look like there'd be more choice, so we felt misled. The price is reasonable for backpackers, but the hostel isn't well located, about four blocks from the historic part of town. I wouldn't recommend staying here; if you can pay a little more, there are better options nearby.
The owners really made us feel at home, and the location in central Colonia is excellent. It's easy to explore the city by bike, and the common areas were very clean. We had a private room for our family, though they also offer shared rooms at a great price. The grill is amazing, and the terrace bar is a lovely place to spend a sunny day. Excellent family-run hostel!
