Hotel Ayres Colonia

The location is the strongest point: close to the main station and historic centre, with everything within walking distance. The rooms were generally good, though the bathroom mirror had a paint mark and the toilet seat was quite old. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. On the second day we had to ask for fresh sheets because we were expected to tell staff when we left so they could clean, but nobody had explained that. They should make clear both what bathroom supplies guests need to bring and when to let staff know the room is empty.

The staff were kind and accommodating while we were dealing with our limited Spanish. Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good too. Thank you!

A cute little hotel, just a short walk from the bus station.

The rooms were clean and the shower was good. Most of the beds were comfortable, though one double mattress sagged badly on one side. One towel had a hole in it, almost like a poncho. Breakfast was mostly good, but they ran out of juice, milk, and both room-temperature and cold water. We had two rooms booked, one meant to have a double bed and the other a double plus two singles. After we paid and were shown in, the first room had two single beds instead, while the second had all four beds crammed together with no space, like one giant bed made of four mattresses. Check-in was supposed to be at 2 PM, but on arrival we were told we couldn't get the rooms until 6 PM because of a late check-out. Nobody had warned us. When we asked what we could do, the blonde woman said she'd cancel the reservation if we didn't like it. We were already there during Carnival and had nowhere else to go. We went exploring, then came back in the late afternoon to check in.
