Posada de la Flor

I ended up loving Colonia del Sacramento so much that I added another night, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating about it. They also asked about dietary restrictions and surprised me with a completely gluten-free breakfast. The person who checked me in shared lots of good ideas for things to do and places to have lunch. Everyone spoke to me in English, which I appreciated since my Spanish is very limited. I had a nice, clean room in a charming little hotel in a beautiful old building. The inner courtyard and fountain were lovely, and the jasmine vines smelled incredible. Some other guests were noisy, and the sound carried well. I wasn't sure whether there were quiet hours, but things settled down after 11pm. The service was excellent. I also took one of the hotel's bicycles to ride along the river, see the Plaza de Toros, and visit a few beaches.

The rooms were really good, with a comfortable bed and a nice patio. Breakfast leaned a bit too much toward sweet things, but it was okay. They could have cleaned the dead mosquitoes and blood stains off the walls, though. It looked like no one had even tried.

A little jewel on a quiet street, with parking, included breakfast, and bicycles for guests. This quaint hotel is near the historical district, and its rooms open onto a beautiful patio with a soothing fountain. There's a great terrace too.

We couldn't make our reservation because our flight was cancelled. I emailed the Posada soon after learning of the change, less than an hour after booking the accommodation, but got no help beyond “the policy is the policy.” They charged the full amount without trying to discuss any options. I understand why policies exist, and that workarounds can sometimes be made in situations like this. The response felt very opportunistic, like a way to make quick cash. A poor experience. Avoid if you can.
