The staff were helpful enough, and the location was good, but the price felt high for what we got. The room and bathroom were worn and looked like they needed a proper clean. The towels were so old they were no use, and mosquitoes filled the room, apparently coming from stagnant water in a neglected water feature in the ground-floor patio. I've stayed in cleaner, more comfortable hostels for a third of the price.

The included breakfast was simple, but it saved us from having to go out and find something in the morning. We only stayed one night and really enjoyed it. The staff were so welcoming that they let us leave our bags after checkout and use the amenities while we waited for our late ferry. The ferry terminal is close by, too.

The staff were friendly, and the location makes it easy to get around on foot. Still, I wouldn't expect much from this hotel; it felt more like a two-star place. Breakfast was quite poor, and after 23:00 you can't buy water or other essentials at reception because everything on the first floor is locked.

We stayed January 25-27 2026, and some jewelry was taken from an unlocked suitcase in our room. I know we should have locked it, but I don't think guests should have to worry about someone entering their room and stealing from their luggage.

The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and cozy, though they aren't luxurious, and breakfast was simple but adequate. I was disappointed that the Wi-Fi didn't reach the upper floors, and I brought that up with the staff. The hotel is a pleasant place to stay, with the port and old town nearby, and we spent a few days here while traveling through Uruguay. It draws visitors from all over, including day-trippers from nearby Buenos Aires. I'd happily come back.
