LUZ Culinary Wine Lodge

My Forest View room looked out onto the trees, a lovely way to wake up and reset. The lodge feels secluded and peaceful, but is still close enough to enjoy the coastal atmosphere of José Ignacio. The picnic they prepared was a highlight. We ate in the vineyard, with delicious food and beautiful wine in a gorgeous setting. Check-in was lovely too, with a welcome drink and a walk around the property that helped me settle in right away. The warm welcome set the tone for one of the most memorable stays of my trip. Thank you to the whole staff for making it so special. I can't wait to return.

The staff really stood out. I'm gluten free and vegetarian, and they made a special menu for me. When they heard my wife likes outdoor movies, they surprised us by setting up a projector for a private dinner screening. Unbelievable. Belén deserves a shout-out, though I wish I remembered more names because everyone was wonderful. We had a private wine tasting that was detailed and delightful. The hospitality was high quality without feeling stuffy, and the staff could be informal or more formal depending on the moment. We only stayed one night at the end of February 2026, but it's one of our favorite stays anywhere. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms luxurious, and the architecture stunning. We arrived by bus in José Ignacio, and they helped us call a taxi to the Posada. Wish we could've stayed longer. We recommend it very highly!

At golden hour, watching the birds, hummingbirds included, was idyllic. The place is peaceful and away from the crowds, though only a short drive from the beach. Our family stayed two nights in January and loved it. We had two adjoining rooms, plus a separate lounge, courtyard, and outdoor shower. The rooms and setting are beautiful, service is great, and the whole place is so relaxed. Breakfast included one of the best versions of avocado toast I've had.

We loved the food, easily the best we had in Uruguay, and everything felt warm, thoughtful, and high quality. Our host Andrés gave us wonderful attention and made the stay special. Luz Wine Lodge is beautifully designed, private, and incredibly peaceful, a perfect retreat in José Ignacio. We had an amazing stay and can't wait to come back. Highly recommend!
