AHIVÁ Espacio Temporal

We spent one night here with friends. The kitchen was dirty and smelled awful, with a toilet plunger left beside the sink. We also all woke up itchy, with red spots after sleeping there, and there were bed bugs.

Smoking was allowed in the kitchen, and our room smelled of tobacco. I didn't feel safe: while we were staying there, a strange person came into the hostel, which uses a code, and asked another traveler if there was still a bed in their room. About an hour later, someone else came in. The owner doesn't stay there, so there were only travelers around. It seems people might be able to get in if someone is inside, or by ringing the bell and having someone let them in. The area is surrounded by homeless people. The owner was nice and agreed to move us out of the smelly room. We also left a pajama behind in the old room and never got it back.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and patient and helpful even though we don't speak Spanish. Our private room with its own bathroom was clean and comfortable, and it also had air conditioning, which the ad hadn't mentioned. The building and facilities were nice and clean. Great value.

The hostel was pretty dirty and the city area didn't seem great. Our bed smelled of body odor, so we asked for fresh bedding and they did provide it. It's also very noisy since it's on a main road, so bring earplugs.
