I made a booking through booking.com on 23/07/2021 for a stay from 26/11/2021 to 28/11/2021. The listing said no prepayment was needed and that payment would be made during the stay. Then I got an automated message asking for advance payment by bank deposit. As a Brazilian booking a hotel in Uruguay, I contacted booking.com to check whether I should pay outside the platform. They told me payment was due during the stay and there was no need to pay in advance. On 18/10/2021 I received another email saying the hotel would cancel the booking unless I replied within 24 hours to confirm I still wanted it. I replied in time. I also tried calling and contacting them on WhatsApp, but got no answer. Worried about losing the reservation, I contacted booking.com again, and they assured me it was confirmed. The booking.com app also showed it as confirmed. When the hotel finally replied to my messages, it said the booking had been cancelled automatically because I hadn’t contacted them for 3 months. But the messages I sent from 19/10/2021 onward show that those 3 months hadn’t passed yet. The hotel only started answering me in November 2021. Honestly, if you’re looking for a place to stay here, be aware that you could get a nasty surprise from one day to the next and have problems with your trip, like I’m having with mine.

Parking costs extra, and I’m still waiting for my receipt. There was no human interaction at all. The bed was awful, it split in two when I lay down, and the air conditioner was too small for the room and made so much noise it sounded like it was falling apart. I really didn’t like it. A hotel would’ve cost less and offered more amenities.
