The rooms smelled bad and were dirty, the bathrooms stayed dirty, and the breakfast was awful. There was no hot water during the day, and it was extremely noisy all night. The owners are drug addicts who can’t keep it down themselves. I know exactly how they got all those five-star reviews, but I can’t understand how this place is allowed to stay open. I could go on, but honestly I just want to forget it.
Even with a rainy week, we had a lovely time using the common areas. The hosts were so warm and caring, there was greenery everywhere and feline company, and the place is near both the beach and town center. The mattresses were especially great for us, since we were used to sleeping on the floor. It’s beautiful in any weather or season. We hope to come back soon.
I loved the jungle-like, tropical feel, and there are nice spots to gather over a beer and socialize in the evenings. The beds weren’t comfortable, though, even if they were fine for one night. The kitchen and other areas also seemed dirty.
The people are incredibly friendly, and the place is beautifully decorated. It’s in a great spot, a block from the beach and two from downtown. They serve a delicious breakfast and make a fantastic barbecue.
It’s no longer operating as a hostel, unfortunately. I stayed there several years ago and loved it. There’s now a very, very good art gallery in its place.
