Our three days here in September 2025 were a wonderful experience. We loved the beautiful grounds, the great food, and the chance to talk with the other guests, who were Uruguayan and excited to share their culture with us Canadians. We speak almost no Spanish and still had a fantastic time. The whole place felt rustic and just right for an estancia in rural Uruguay. Pat and Jonathan were lovely hosts. I’d never ridden before, but they gave me a gentle horse, and we just plodded around. We also spotted capybaras, Rhea's and an armadillo. Highly recommend!

This is a lovely place to unwind, especially for families. There’s nature, wildlife, activities, and food, all included. Drinks like alcohol or soft drinks are added to your bill as you go. We took the bus from Montevideo to Cerro Colorado, then Aguila Blanca arranged a taxi to the estancia. A car is handy for getting there, but you don’t need one while you’re staying. It’s not a hotel or a luxury stay, it’s home life, with decent homemade meals in someone’s house and a warm welcome as you share their experiences. The rooms are spacious and private, and we felt relaxed wandering around the grounds whenever we wanted. Most mornings and afternoons there were horse rides across the lovely fields, and some horses are slow, so beginners needn’t worry. We enjoyed cooling off in the tank swimming pool, plus ping pong, darts, a kayak on the lake, Carpinchos running away, lots of birds, and even an armadillo or two. Food was tasty and plentiful, though we were sorry not to see any parilla action while we were there. It’s a group homestay experience, with guests eating together. The family was very welcoming, especially Pat, who was a wonderful host. A fabulous visit to an authentic small estancia in a beautiful rural part of Uruguay. Definitely recommend!

For sure, I recommend it. This was the best place we stayed in South America, with amazing nature and a simple, beautiful feel. We loved everything, especially the horse rides. Jonathan was a welcoming and excellent guide.

There’s plenty to do here. We tried horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, and a jeep excursion. The staff were wonderful, the food was excellent, and the comfortable rooms are beautifully decorated. We loved the place and I recommend it!

A lovely typical Casco de estancia (main house), great food, kayaks you can take out on a lake, and all kinds of animals around it. You can help with the animals and go horseback riding too. We had a great time forgetting everything for a while. Definitely recommend!
