Hotel America

Breakfast was simple but had what you needed, and the central location was handy. Still, I’m not sure I’d make a point of staying here again. The hotel is older and basic, though about $64 a night seemed reasonable. My room was tiny and looked fairly clean, but the mattress had stains and no protector. The bathroom was even tighter: the shower was under half a meter wide, and even I, being petite, barely fit. The AC appeared to have a heat setting, but only blew cold air, so the room was much colder than I wanted in winter. The bedding and bathroom also smelled a bit odd. There was a homeless person living under a makeshift tent on the sidewalk right next door. Fine for a quick stay.

The room was small, but it had everything I needed for a few days. The hotel is very clean and well kept, though there's no luxury to expect. Staff at the front desk are accommodating, and someone is there around the clock. Breakfast was just OK: toast was the only hot option, though they did have fresh fruit. Booking directly with the hotel gets you a better deal. For a basic, clean place, it's good value.

I checked out after one night even though I'd booked three. My friend in the next room had to switch rooms too, because of various problems. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and I'm still having trouble getting a refund. There was no hot water, the internet kept failing, the location was terrible, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The amenities didn't match what was advertised, and the stay fell far short of what I expected. I'll file a claim with my credit card company to try to get my money back. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've had, and I strongly advise against staying here.

The location was good, but everything else was awful. The place was dirty, including the sheets, and the staff couldn't even suggest a restaurant. After we left, they charged us without warning for supposedly smoking in the room, even though we never did. That's taking money from guests, and it's completely illegal. UNBELIEVABLE.
