Hotel Cottage

We felt relaxed here and would definitely stay again. The staff were super friendly, and breakfast was very good and filling. The hotel is in one of Montevideo's best neighborhoods, often called its Beverly Hills, and it lived up to that reputation. They can arrange tours for guests; we took the City Tour and the trip to Colonia, and enjoyed both.

The room facing the shore is very nice, though the hotel has a bit of a commercial feel and isn't especially plush. Lunch is excellent value, but service can be a little slow. Good, if not great. I'd come back.

Being right across from the beach makes it easy to spend the day swimming, sunbathing, or walking. Hotel Cottage has clean, spacious rooms, tasty food, and friendly service, and it's a comfortable, relaxing place near Montevideo. I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Uruguay.

The beach is directly across from the hotel, so it's a good fit if that's part of your plans. The location is in what's considered the Beverly Hills of MvD. The rooms were just okay, and the bathroom lighting could be better. I also found a few insects in my room, including the bathroom, so pest control needs to happen more often. I stayed a week, but towels weren't replaced every day unless I asked. Service was just okay, and some reception staff didn't speak English, which made it harder to communicate what I needed. Breakfast has a decent range, but it's nearly the same every day. The location is good, though, so it can be a good option for that reason.
