Breakfast was brilliant, and the reception team were fantastic. The rooms were great, with air conditioning and a view of the ramble (sea), and the central CBD location in Montevideo worked really well. It was very well priced, too. The fit out is a little dated, though the other facilities are so good that it didn’t really stand out.

The reception staff were all lovely, really friendly and helpful, and the shower was great. The location also made it an easy short walk to everything. The bed was lumpy and not very comfortable, though, and the gym and pool could have been cleaner. We also weren’t told about the building work, so most mornings at 9am there was a jackhammer going.

Breakfast was disappointing, with just fruit salad, one kind of cake, and some bread that didn’t taste good. We also had to switch rooms because the first one smelled of cigars. In the new room, the shower was smaller and had no curtain, so the bathroom ended up flooded.

The room and bathroom felt quite old, and both had a bit of a musty smell. It seemed more like a local inn to me. I booked it mainly for the location and because a friend recommended it after staying here almost 10 years ago and saying it was good, but the condition of the room wasn’t great.

The rooms were nice, though they could use a little touching up, and the staff were friendly, except for the Asian guy. Breakfast was just medium. It’s a decent place if you’re passing through Montevideo, but I wouldn’t pick it for a long stay.
