The location is excellent and the price was good, and the bed was clean, comfortable, and really nice. But the cleaning was very unsatisfactory. The bathroom was dirty and honestly gross. I asked at reception for it to be cleaned on my second day, then spent the next two days basically arguing to get someone to do it. The cleaner would only take out the trash. There was hair everywhere, and the toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. When they finally cleaned it, that was the only time during my seven-day stay. It was cold, too, and there weren’t enough blankets. The staff are friendly, but I wish they were more effective. I wouldn’t stay again because of the cleaning.

The bed is comfortable, the rooms have AC, and the location is great, right by the beach in a lovely neighborhood. The front desk staff don’t speak English, which made things confusing, especially when I tried to extend my stay. One woman there spoke English and was very helpful. The bathroom cleaning really needs improvement. I stayed for about a week, and they didn’t clean the shower or toilet. Twice there was no toilet paper, and they never refilled the hand soap. That makes a big difference to the stay, and they need to sort it out before the facilities become unlivable.

The only good thing was how close it is to the beach and the offer of daily room service. The building is very old, and the renovation didn’t work well in my eyes. Our rooms looked nothing like the pictures, and the bathroom was really moldy. We couldn’t properly use the balcony because water from the air-con compressor above us kept the floor wet. The website pictures and description also showed a bar or restaurant, but there wasn’t one. At night we could hear the neighbors through the walls. Selina hostel in Montevideo was a big disappointment.

The quiet neighborhood means you can get a good night’s sleep, and it’s really close to pocitos beach, one of the nicest beaches in Montevideo. The bar had zero atmosphere and the music was really lame. The hangout area was worn out, and there wasn’t much else to say about it.
