The room was cozy and clean, the shower got verrrry hot, and there were plenty of cooking facilities. Breakfast was great too, with warm bread rolls that reminded me of English scones, plus fresh orange juice and coffee. Pizza Via around the corner is quality. This is a charming hostel in a cool part of town. We visited in the off season, and the owner was kind enough to open up and leave us a key so we could let ourselves in while he was out. The private room and shower were great, and the place has a rustic, slightly shabby look. That’s fine in a laid-back surf town. The owner put us in touch with some friends who give surf lessons. They’re lifeguards and took us out for a great session.

The place has a homey feel and it’s easy to meet people. It’s also close to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants in La Barra. The price is good, and breakfast is included. Cami, the owner, is a really friendly, nice guy. Thanks!

The bus stops are a one-minute walk away, with connections to Punta del Este in 15 minutes, Jose Ignacio in 30, and other places too. We liked staying in laid-back La Barra, with the option of heading into Punta del Este for more traffic and people. It’s excellent value, and the stay was a great experience. The hostel is beautifully kept, with a clean, well-equipped kitchen and breakfast included: coffee, juice and bread made there. There’s a pool area, a lovely garden, loads of hammocks, three very cute dogs and a cat, and cool surf and artsy decorations. The owner and staff are so kind and helpful, and seem to really love what they do. It’s the sort of cozy place that makes you want to extend your stay as soon as you arrive. Highly recommended!

Good food, a nice bar, fair prices and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were great too, especially the curly-haired girl with the angelic voice who gave us a private concert that night. Definitely something to remember. Five stars!

Hammocks, a patio, a dining area and couches made for really nice spots to hang out. There was almost always good music playing in the background, and I can imagine the place would be awesome in high season when the bar is open. It was a comfortable, friendly hostel.
