We found the building interesting, with its outside mural, courtyard garden, and benches. The location works well if you're visiting the city rather than the beaches. But our room's bedding had mold stains, and there was mold on the wall too. The kitchen utensils were very dirty, and with no dish soap, people were just rinsing pots and pans with water and leaving them greasy.
Room 17 was beautiful, with antique furniture, crisp white cotton sheets and towels, and a duck-down duvet. It opened through double doors onto a small but gorgeous courtyard garden, where we often saw hummingbirds and butterflies. There was a mosquito net too, though we didn't need it in late October. The owner was very gracious and let us keep the room until our afternoon bus left. After a month traveling around Uruguay, this was probably the nicest and cleanest place we'd stayed. We highly recommend it for the price, comfort, and chance to relax.
The staff are really nice and always do what they can to help. The place itself is lovely and reasonably located, near restaurants and the main square. The beach is about a 15-minute walk away. I recommend staying here!
The room had plenty of space and was quiet, but it felt old and didn't get much light. There was no heating in winter.
The owner is nice, but this was the most run-down, awful place I've ever stayed.
