Getting to know Javier and Rossana and their son, Ramiro, was the best part of our visit. They were such warm, gracious hosts. Bali Boutique Hotel is lovely, with plenty of comfortable spots to unwind, and everything in town is an easy walk away. We also really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the fresh fruit and good coffee. We only wish we could have stayed longer, and hope to see them again.

Our room wasn't quite as polished as the rest of the property, which left me a little disappointed. The place has a nice atmosphere and serves a decent breakfast, including fried or scrambled eggs. Its style is probably unlike anywhere else in Uruguay, though it doesn't really fit its surroundings.

We liked the hotel's central location, with essentials nearby, and thought the building was beautiful. The stay itself, though, became a very bad experience for our group of nine expats visiting San Gregorio de Polanco. Before arriving, we called the owner because Booking.com showed the rooms as sold out. He agreed to hold three rooms at a reasonable price, with check-in at 11.30 am and checkout at 12.30-1 pm the next day, since we were coming from Montevideo. When we arrived, we were told to take four rooms instead, with the extra one supposedly free. In the end, we were charged 3900 per room, which seemed very high compared with the usual rate for those rooms. The owner's manner changed on checkout morning. When we asked for things at breakfast, he spoke rather rudely. Then we were told, also rudely, to leave by 10 am. We politely reminded him about the late checkout we'd agreed on and asked for time to pack and shower. He refused, citing cleaning, with what seemed to us an absurd reason. We had to rush, pack, and leave for Montevideo without showering. We also felt the owners treated us in a racist way. Other guests seemed to get more attention, from breakfast service through checkout. We have never experienced this kind of two-faced, rude behavior from hotel or hostel owners in Uruguay. Highly not recommended.

In the small town of San Gregorio de Polanco, this is a great accommodation choice.
