Hotel MAXIM

I’ve been coming back every couple of years since Maxim first opened. I always request a room at the rear to avoid traffic noise, since the windows aren’t double glazed. The doors don’t have rubber seals and the hallways are tiled, though it was very quiet during my two-night visit, perhaps because I was near the end of the hall and there didn’t seem to be many guests. My room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and room 210 also had a single bed. The blackout curtains and reverse cycle aircon worked well, and there were many English TV channels. The white towels were lovely and fluffy, but on my first night the hot water took ages to come through. My bathroom had a bidet. There was a minibar, but no kettle. Breakfast was included, though it was very average: basic pot coffee, ham, cheese, toast, and jams. I did enjoy the partly fresh fruit salad.

I spent nearly three months here. It’s a good place to stay, and the restaurant downstairs is exceptional.

We stayed as a family and had very good service. The rooms were nice, with a minibar, AC, bed, and TV, and the hotel is centrally located. Breakfast was very good. The underground garage is tricky to get into, while the outdoor parking is exposed to the weather. It gets a little noisy when the hotel is full.
