The breakfast spread was large, and Amulet across the road is a brilliant restaurant. Our room had a unique look, and we could walk to places from the hotel. There’s a slightly different name for it on Google, Historical Mehtar Anbar Hotel Caravan Sarai, with different reviews. The room needs more lighting, and outside noise carries in, especially when people sit talking in the courtyard at night. They only take cash, no cards.

I booked through Booking.com and wouldn’t recommend this place even to my ex. The hotel looks nothing like the pictures, the rooms were still dirty when we came back to stay another night, and the receptionist seemed to have no idea what was happening. He agreed when we asked to extend our stay, then told us the next morning that the hotel was full. They only take cash. The online photos looked nice, but this was a terrible experience and nowhere near proper hotel service or amenities. We arrived very late to find the place nearly empty, with no staff or reception around. After a wait, a man appeared and said there was no room available. He offered us the only room left, which was filthy and disgusting, then suggested we find another hotel. At 4 AM, he took us somewhere else to spend the night.

I liked that it’s an authentic 19th-century place, but Bukhara has 16th-century hotels with much better conditions for less money. The Booking.com photos look much better than the actual place, and they gave me the wrong room. The positive reviews here were probably written by the owners themselves. Everything feels neglected. The furniture looks like it came from a trash bin, the carpets are old, and the window faces a noisy street. The door only latches and can’t be locked from outside. Even the bathroom door won’t close. I don’t recommend this hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. I also liked the varied, delicious breakfast. Being near the city center made getting around convenient. I had a very pleasant stay and definitely plan to come back.

The breakfasts had lots to choose from and were delicious. The room was cozy and well kept, and the staff were always ready to help. I really enjoyed staying here, especially with the convenient location near the city center. I’d happily return.
