Rizo Boutique Hotel

Our stay was spoiled by the manager, who was disrespectful and literally laughed at me when I complained about a €40 laundry bill. That amount felt like an outrageous rip-off for Uzbekistan. Rahimjon Rofiyev was the one bright spot, a friendly and helpful staff member. One good employee can't make up for an arrogant boss. Don't stay here if you expect to be treated with respect.

One of the rooms had no window to the outside, only a view into the courtyard, and it was very noisy. We felt uncomfortable and ripped off throughout the stay, so I wouldn't recommend this hotel. We'd booked two rooms, but were told only one was available and that we'd have to pay for two. After we challenged that, we eventually got both rooms, but were then lectured and accused of being unkind. We only found similar reviews about the owner's alleged lying and scamming after we'd paid. Laundry was also extremely expensive, 50 euros for one load. The woman we paid tried to distract us while we waited for change by talking about tours, and we had to insist on getting our change. The breakfast was heavy, sugary, and deep-fried, and the fruit and vegetables weren't fresh. It felt like all three generations were following us around and trying to scam us.

The location was perfect for walking to all the sights, and breakfast was good too. Our hosts were really warm and friendly, and helped us with anything we needed. Thanks for a great stay!

My room had no outside window, just one facing the courtyard. The lights there stayed on all night, and I could hear everything happening in the other rooms on the floor. My friends' room was fine. We also paid more than the Booking quote, after the owner made up a dollar-to-som exchange rate even though we'd booked in euros. When we asked to have our clothes washed, they hid them instead of bringing them to our room and wouldn't return them until we paid €50. That's extortionate, especially when the average monthly wage in Uzbekistan is €250. The woman we paid also tried to keep the change by offering us a city tour, which felt like another scam. On arrival, the owner spun us a long story about a Swiss tourist who had broken his leg, was in hospital, and had left belongings in a room, so he could only give us one of the two rooms we'd reserved on Booking. We were willing to take the one room for a night, but he wanted us to pay for two. After we argued that it was unfair, he called his boss, though his family owns the hotel, and said he could move the Swiss guest's things so we could have both rooms. We never saw that tourist, and the story was clearly a lie. The whole family, across three generations, made us uncomfortable by following us, trying to scam us, and lying. I wouldn't wish a stay here on my worst enemy. This hotel needs to be investigated and shut down as soon as possible.
