We paid for two separate rooms for two people. A few days later, they told us guests were coming and said we had to share one room instead, even though we were still paying for both.

We told the staff we had to leave at 4.00, and they said to leave the keycards at the counter. But the entrance was secured with a huge bracket lock, so we couldn’t get out. Is anyone thinking about safety in an emergency evacuation? We rang the bell several times and called out before someone finally came to open the door. The rooms were quite nice. Breakfast was basic, and when we came down around 8.00 almost everything was gone, leaving us hardly any choice.

8/10
The building is new, and the hotel is fairly clean, with nice rooms, lovely bed linen, and comfortable pillows. For the price, it’s a good option. The downsides were the inconvenient location and a sewage smell that came back often. Breakfast wasn’t very good, though at least it was included. Public transport can get you to tourist spots in about 20-30 minutes, and taxis in Samrkand are inexpensive.

The owner asked for extra charges that we couldn’t understand. He was arrogant and unfriendly.

The service was good, and the hotel was quite cheap. It’s a long way from the main sights and train station, though, and breakfast didn’t have many choices. I’d have preferred more options.
