Registan Hostel

The location is the one clear plus here. My card payment failed three times because the terminal seemed outdated, and another guest had the same problem. I ended up not staying, and was glad they offered to cancel the reservation. Before that, the welcome felt cold: staff spoke very little English, and the exchange was mostly “booking?”, “passport?”, “card?” without a hello or much politeness. The kitchen was just a tiny sink corner. The first dorm smelled bad, felt cramped and cluttered with other guests’ things, and had loud snoring. They offered me another room after seeing my reaction, and it looked cleaner, but its privacy curtain was broken. The locker barely held my things, and the showers felt like temporary worker containers for this price. The place seems overrated and too expensive for what it offers. There are better value options nearby with nicer facilities and a friendlier atmosphere. Better staff training, a few repairs, and more attention to first impressions could help a lot. For now, I’d look around before booking.

It was easy to relax here, the hostel felt calm, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was lovely and well equipped, and the WiFi was fast. Registan Square is only a short walk away. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially Shahzoda at reception, who was so welcoming. I’d stay here again.

You can reach the restaurants and coffee shops right nearby, and Registan Square is about 500m away. The hostel sits between Gur-i-Timur and the square, a great spot in Samarkand. Rooms are clean and spacious, and the hosts are super. Registan Hostel is charming and may stay in your heart. Highly recommended.

The staff welcomed me right away, and the woman who helped me was lovely and willing to go out of her way. They even let me stay in the shared dining area after checkout. The bed curtains gave me privacy, there was a locker for valuables, and they can provide towels if you need one. There’s also a kitchen and a roomy shared shower area. Registan Square and other Samarkand landmarks are just a few minutes on foot, with restaurants and convenience stores close by. Very good value, and I’d come back if I visit Samarkand again.
