Furkat Guest House felt charming, authentic, and welcoming to us. We’d seen some very negative reviews about cleanliness and the owner being unfriendly, but that wasn’t our experience. It has more of the feel of a traditional family home than a modern hotel, so it won’t suit everyone. If warm hospitality and a homey atmosphere matter to you, and you’re fine with old furniture and mismatched bedding or towels, you’ll probably enjoy it. But if you expect luxury or a polished boutique hotel with everything new and perfectly styled, this may not be the right place.

Breakfast changes each time, and seems to move from place to place. There’s a rooftop with a nice view, plus a shady garden. The rooms are a little tiny and dusty, but that shouldn’t be an issue for a couple of days. Wi-Fi worked well in room N11 on the second floor. A dreamy place filled with old things, wooden carved doors, furniture, carpets and more. A nice spot for enjoying Samarkand’s old vibes.

Quiet evenings and plenty of hot water were pluses, along with a breakfast that was more than I could eat and had lots of variety. It’s a B&B that puts a lot of emphasis on breakfast, while the decor, bedding, and bookkeeping were downsides.

Mr. Furkat went above and beyond to make our visit pleasant, and the breakfast was outstanding. The accommodation is ideally placed, with Samarkand’s main sights just around the corner. Excellent location.

The people at reception were really friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent, less than five minutes from Registan Square and everything else. At 8 AM they serve a free, fairly tasty breakfast. I also loved spending mornings on the wonderful rooftop, where I sat and typed on two of my days there. It’s not a modern hotel, but it has plenty of charm. I highly recommend it if you’re after unique lodging.
