L'Argamak Hotel

L’Argamak has a terrace with a view, a courtyard that can be pleasant in good weather, and a great location. It has the ingredients for a lovely boutique hotel, but the stay was underwhelming and overpriced. Finding your way in is odd. You enter through a rather daunting doorway with nobody around, cross a pleasant courtyard, then reach a closed door. Only after pushing it open do you realize it’s a hotel. At the front desk there was typically a youngster who barely spoke English, and full payment in cash was required upfront. The rooms are on the small side and need upgrading, as do the bathrooms. We stayed in the first week of November, when temperatures dropped sharply, but breakfast was served in a partly open space and everything was stone cold. What was available wasn’t replenished either. To be fair, they took an order for eggs, and those arrived warm. It feels like the place is trying to get maximum mileage from its location.

Breakfast in the garden was one of the best parts of our stay, fresh and delicious in such a peaceful setting. The hotel was spotless and really comfortable.

At L’Argamak, the staff were wonderful, always smiling and ready to help with whatever we needed. We felt at home and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Samarkand.

Check-in and check-out were smooth, and everything in between felt just right. Our room was spacious, very clean, and extremely comfortable. The bed and curtains helped us get a great night's sleep.
