Hotel 1946

I stayed for about two weeks in 2021, soon after the pandemic began to ease. I’ve traveled often and stayed in many hotels, and this was one of the best. The staff and owner were incredibly welcoming. The owner even arranged for an employee to take me in his personal car to get a SIM card. They let me use the kitchen to make tea the way I like it. Breakfast varied from day to day, and they offered fresh fruit in the evenings. I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel. At this price, I truly believe you won’t find a better option.

Breakfast included local dishes, and the hotel was comfortable and well placed between the city center and the bazaar, with a good price. The staff were kind and helped with all our requests. Nurullokh especially made our time in Tashkent wonderful.

The room was dirty, poorly kept, and smelled bad. The staff were unfriendly when we checked in, and later, when we came back for our bags, the electricity was off and the hotel was very dark. We asked what was going on and got no answer, just a blank look. Their behavior felt strange and unprofessional. My friend and I had booked Hotel 1946 in Tashkent for a few hours to leave our luggage before a flight. We were there for about 6-7 hours in total and spent most of that time outside. At checkout, the receptionist went upstairs, picked up a floor mat towel that had already been on the bathroom floor when we arrived, and said we had made it dirty. The marks were on the underside, so they looked like dirt from the hotel's floor. We hadn't used the towel, but the staff wouldn't listen and insisted we pay around £10 for it. We gave in because they kept pressuring us, and the whole thing left me anxious and uncomfortable. It felt like an attempt to get extra money from us. After we left, I read other reviews and found that many guests described similar bad experiences. I wish I'd checked before booking, because I wouldn't have chosen this place. Management and staff acted dishonestly and unprofessionally. Be careful and read the one-star reviews. There are better, more trustworthy options in Tashkent. I stayed at Hilton Tashkent and had an amazing experience. Based on what I experienced and read, the higher ratings seemed misleading and fake. This was one of the worst hotels I've encountered, and I consider it a complete scam.

They clean the rooms daily, which was great, and the breakfast was good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the furniture seemed fairly new. It's very central. There's no lift, but the hotel is only one floor, so it wasn't a big issue. I'd recommend it.
