Intercity Hotel Tashkent by Maskan

The worst part was the registration paperwork. We stayed three nights and paid for all of them, but they only gave us a registration slip for one night, which we need for the airport. The receptionist said he couldn’t do anything because the person who checked us in had registered us after midnight, even though we arrived at 10 pm. We were heading to the airport hoping we wouldn’t face trouble or have to pay a fine. We hadn’t had this issue at any of the other hotels during our two weeks in Uzbekistan. We arrived around 10 pm on the first night and the receptionist barely spoke English. He ignored us and played on his phone while we were standing there talking to him. He then said payment had to be in cash, despite the booking saying card payment was possible and the card machine being right in front of him. He didn’t know how to use it, so we paid half in cash and half by card the next morning. There was just one towel in the room, so we had to ask for more, and there wasn’t a foot towel. The hot water lasted only about two minutes before turning lukewarm, and otherwise the water was lukewarm at best. The rooms, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi were decent, though I suspect that’s because the hotel is new. The rooms are at basement level, with no view, and leaving the window or door open brings in street dust. Breakfast was an okay buffet, but the selection was limited compared with other hotels here. I don’t often give hotels one star, but this one caused a lot of frustration. There are plenty of cheaper and better places in Tashkent, so I wouldn’t spend my time or money here. Bad, lousy service.
