Pakhtakor Athletics hotel

The rooms are simple but cover the basics, with a private bathroom, TV, fridge, AC, phone and kettle. Wi-Fi was OK, the reception staff were welcoming, and there’s a cafeteria right by the hotel. It’s quiet at night and the neighborhood felt very safe. You can see athletes training from the side facing the sports grounds. Getting there takes a little planning. The hotel sits inside Pakhtakor Stadium, and it can be hard to locate. Tashkent City, Taskent City Park and Tashkent City Mall are within walking distance, though the grounds make it feel a bit removed from other city amenities. Uzbekistan, Paxtakor and Alisher Navoiy metro stations are about a 10-15 minute walk away. From the airport, take a bus to a metro station, ride to one of those stops, then walk. The stadium has three gates, and Google Maps will point you to one. Even with those location quirks, I’d rate it five stars for the price and quality. For a budget stay in central Tashkent, I think it’s the best option.

I really liked having an athletics track outside my window, since I’m into sports. The hotel is set within the football stadium grounds, and the two staff members I met were lovely. They let me leave my bag before check-in and after check-out. The bed was very comfortable, too. It’s a clean, comfortable, no-frills place with good value, even if the rooms aren’t fancy. Just allow for a five-minute walk to the stadium complex exit before you can get a Yandex. That didn’t bother me as a European, but it’s something to include in your timing.

Nora was wonderful, both at check-in and later when she helped direct the taxi driver who was coming to pick me up. I could also leave my bag there for the day after checking out. I only stayed one night after arriving in Tashkent. The room was basic, clean, and had what I needed, including air conditioning for hot weather and a good shower. The location was great, and the room was quiet.

The rooms are clean and well kept, and the air conditioning worked very well, almost too cold. The mattress felt a bit firm, but I still found it a good place to stay. It felt extremely safe. The hotel is right inside the stadium compound, which is well guarded. I think national athletes stay and train there too. The security can make rides tricky, though, as some e-hailing drivers don’t want to enter, so we had to walk outside the compound to get a car.
