The Islander's Inn

Sandra kindly gave us her contact details in case we needed anything, and she also shared a couple of local taxi numbers. We used them to see Clifton, Ashton, and various restaurants and beach bars around the island. She was attentive throughout our three nights at The Islander’s Inn, and had arranged a taxi to collect my friend and me from the ferry. The hotel is about a 5 minute drive from Clifton, on what feels like a private beach with a view of Maryeau. We knew we'd found a gem as soon as we arrived. Our clean room was beautifully decorated to match the natural feel of the bay, and the balcony was a lovely place to watch the waves by day and sunset in the evening. Breakfast at the hotel hit the spot and set us up for exploring the island. The cook was lovely and welcoming, as was the woman who cleaned the rooms, always greeting us with a smile and a friendly word. We had a wonderful time, and I can't recommend The Islander’s Inn enough.

Sandra and the staff were lovely hosts, always helpful, and the meals we tried were fresh and tasty. Our family room was nicely set up for cooking and had a lovely view. We liked this small, quiet place, with a little sandy beach right outside and larger beaches by Sparrow's beach bar about a ten minute walk away. Clifton takes around 10-15 minutes on foot, and there's also a great walk up to the old French fort, with amazing views over Union Island and Tobago Cays. We were here for five days in January 2022. It isn't a full-service hotel, more a charming, low-key place, and that suited us perfectly.

The hotel ran out of shower water twice during our three days there. The big balconies would have been nice to enjoy, but the bugs made that difficult, and mosquito coils should be offered. A simple breakfast would help given the location. The rooms are large, though a little tired, and the hotel is right on the beach. It's a good 25-minute walk from town, with one restaurant a little closer, though pricey.

We picked a room with AC, though at night I wished we'd chosen a fan so we could hear the waves. The rooms differ in size and amenities, so tell Clyde and Sandra what you want. We didn't get to try Clyde's cooking, but people spoke highly of it and it smelled wonderful, so give them notice if you'd like to eat there. Our hosts were very accommodating, and the peaceful spot has a lovely view of a beach and reef. There are low surf labor waves just down the beach, plus a sheltered bay farther along. Town is a 15-minute walk away. Some reviews mention the hill route, but there's a much flatter walk that takes the same time.
