Posada La Rosaleda

It’s a pretty place with a definite beach feel. The only issue is the water.

The hotel is comfortable, attractive, and clean, but the manager’s attitude changed once she realized we weren’t going to spend more than the accommodation cost. She treated us with contempt, as if we owed her something. We understand they may have targets to meet or need the money, but they won’t get it by looking at guests sourly and lying to them. We weren’t required to buy anything from her. Over WhatsApp, they told us there were no public beaches on Gran Roque and that beaches were reserved for locals, so we would have to pay for very expensive boat trips to the cayos. They also said we should buy the full-board package because restaurants on the island were very expensive and it would work out cheaper. That wasn’t true. During our two months of travel, one of our cheapest meals was in Los Roques: €20 for the two of us, and it was great. As payback for not spending the money she wanted us to, they charged us $42 for the only breakfast we had at the property: two rolls with ham and cheese. The one useful thing they could have told us, that the island has no banks or ATMs and that paying by card would be very difficult, they didn’t mention. Very poor behavior. This isn’t how customers should be treated.

The service was simply spectacular. Where you stay and how people treat you can make your Los Roques experience so much better, and at Rosaleda it was excellent ❤️

Chef Zulay made the meals a highlight of our trip. Everything we tried was delicious, and the dining room was a lovely place to eat, with air conditioning that kept the heat and flies at bay. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We had a roomy, comfortable double room with a great bed, working air conditioning, and lovely decor. The shower pressure could be better. The inn is charming inside and out, with a homely feel and colors that make it welcoming. I'd gladly come back. 💙
