Paradise Tamarindo

We found Paradise tamarindo by chance because the AirBnb a few minutes down the road had no working aircon or lifts. The hotel had a lovely pool and a view worth a 1000 Instagram posts, but the staff are what made the stay memorable. The island has power outages and water shortages, and they went out of their way, clearly and enthusiastically, to keep us welcome, comfortable, and informed while working through those issues. When the power went out, they moved us to a lower floor so we’d be more comfortable and have fewer stairs. They looked after us like true hospitality professionals. A couple of small things could be improved, like privacy in the rooms’ toilets and the food, but everyone was trying to make the stay the best it could be. I asked staff their names as I met them, and want to give a special shout out to Ismel, Luis at the beach club, Isquel, Luz marina, and Dilimar.

It’s a beautiful location and really quiet, with not many guests as of february 2024. There are restaurants on the nearby beach, but shops to buy staff are quite far away. Breakfast was ok for me, though you have to choose from a menu since there’s no buffet. The staff are polite and helpful, but don’t speak English. It’s not European or US 5 star standard, but for Venezuela it’s ok.

The hotel looks nice, and there’s a zip-line from the top down to the sun beds. The food and cocktails were awful. WiFi only works in the lobby and restaurant, and the connection there wasn’t very good. This isn’t 5*, 3* maximum.

The views over playa Guacuco are very nice, and the structure itself is attractive. The front desk people were very nice and the rooms were nice too. But the restaurant was awful, and the place needs a lot of investment to bring it up to its value.
