The New View Inn

Although the room was huge, the curtains didn't cover the windows, and there were pubic hairs across the floors in both the bedroom and bathroom. Roosters made noise constantly, and there's no breakfast, so I had to spend $7 on a cab to get some. I thought town was within walking distance, but it isn't. I did walk there, though I felt unsafe on the narrow roads with no sidewalk and fast-moving traffic.

The hotel is very nice, with a spacious, clean room, two queen beds, and good air conditioning. There aren't any shops or restaurants nearby, though Road Town is only a few minutes' walk down the street. There's no sidewalk, so watch for cars coming toward you. I'd take a taxi at night.

We had a really lovely stay the night before our sailing charter. One thing to know: if you book through Chase/Expedia, call to confirm. They couldn't find my reservation even with the confirmation number, but thankfully honored it. The room was exceptionally clean, well cared for, and nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed. The coffee bar had lots of tea choices and instant coffee. The bathroom had a nice light in the mirror for makeup, a hairdryer, and plenty of extra toiletries, including a razor and Qtips. The shower held its temperature for us, though friends on the floor above mentioned hot and cold surges. We were there Friday night and heard cars revving and racing on the street. I'm pretty sure the whole town heard them. Earplugs solved it for me. The staff were friendly, and one kindly drove us to the docks for free. The main area is also walkable, about 20 minutes each way on flat ground. In the morning they helped us call a cab to our charter. For dinner, I'd recommend Bambushay or The Dove restaurant.

The rooms are modern and spacious, and everyone at this new hotel was so welcoming and nice. It was just what I hoped for. I'm planning to return to Tortola in April and will definitely stay at the New View Inn again!
