Bayview Vacation Apartments

We got in late, and the host was there with the keys. She’s such a nice, accommodating woman. The apartment was extremely nice, with a balcony off each Rom and beautiful views. I’ll come back again!

My wife broke out in hives all over within 15 minutes of entering the room and sitting on the bed. Benadryl got us through the night, but about 30 hours later the reaction was so strong that it no longer helped, and we had to go to the emergency room at 1:00am. We had reserved 1 queen bed and clearly stated that the guests would be me, my wife, our 2 year old, and our 6 month old. We planned to co-sleep with the 2 year old and, (4) months before arrival, asked for a “pack and play” or crib for the baby. The website clearly said cribs and roll away beds were available free of charge. Instead, the dated, worn room had a double bed, smaller and shorter than a queen, and we were told no crib was available. When we asked management about the missing queen and a crib or rollaway, they said they couldn't provide a crib, but could unlock the apartment's room with 2 twin beds for around an additional $60. We were shocked and immediately refused. The bedding had yellow spots and a torn hole. The towel was worn, frayed, and stained with what looked like paint. After the allergic reaction, we showered but didn't dare use the towels. A wicker chair in the bedroom had a large green spot where gum had been scraped off the seat. The outdoor lounge chairs had no padding, despite the website photos. The bathroom had no door, leaving the toilet directly in front of the bedroom, the only room with AC. There was a musty, smoky smell. The website said no pets or service animals and absolutely no smoking, so based on the odor and my wife's severe systemic reaction, we can only assume a chemical was sprayed or a bug bomb was set off shortly before we arrived. We didn't find a single insect, but there were signs bugs had been there before, including holes in the wall and “dirt” on top of the baseboards. We all tried sleeping sideways in the double bed. Nearby roosters started a loud, constant “wake-up call” at 4:30am that went on until around 6:30am. After one night of little sleep, the allergic reaction, and the ER visit, we would have paid almost anything to stay elsewhere that night in Virgin Gorda. The website calls the property “family friendly,” but that wasn't our impression. We felt deceived by the exceptional reviews and highly staged photos. We hope management fixes these issues for future guests, but we won't be returning.

Really enjoyed the place.

Very clean and comfortable place to stay, with a short drive to the Baths, Coco Mya, and the ferry.
