King Christian Hotel

Getting around was easy from this centrally located hotel, and having parking downtown was a big deal. There’s someone available around the clock; they called taxis for us and suggested local services. The desk also serves as a bar with a good variety of drinks. The pool is beside a bar and restaurant, and there’s breakfast, coffee, and an ocean view. It had everything we needed for a luxurious stay.

At 3 AM, a pipe burst and flooded the hallway. The cleanup was so loud that sleep was out of the question. One maintenance employee, a white man with long hair, was sarcastic and dismissive when I asked about the noise. By morning there was no water, and the manager never answered my calls or texts about the problems. There were a few courteous staff members, but management was unreachable and the general attitude felt indifferent. The trouble started at check-in, when nobody explained the amenities or the benefit of the Hotel on the Cay. My first room had a completely broken AC. In the second, severe condensation from the AC left a mold-like stain on the ceiling, despite the claims that the room was “newly upgraded.” The rooms and property were poorly maintained, and the hotel seemed badly mismanaged, with a lack of basic customer service and empathy. From arrival to checkout, the stay was frustrating and disappointing. The stress and lack of a peaceful night made the price, whatever the amount, not worth it. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Look elsewhere in St. Croix.

I just got back from a week here, and it’s a lovely place to enjoy Christiansted. You’re right on the boardwalk, close to food, drinks, shopping, and fun. Hotel on the Cay beach is only a few minutes away by ride.

We loved unwinding in the pool and courtyard lounge, and the welcome drink was a nice surprise. Our balcony looked out over the waterfront, and the room was beautifully decorated, mixing modern comfort with island charm. The staff were warm and helpful the whole time. King Christian Hotel has a charming feel, and its waterfront spot in Christiansted makes it easy to reach shops, restaurants, and historic sites, with stunning views along the way. We’d happily return, whether for a romantic trip, time away on my own, or a relaxed break with friends. It felt like a first-class stay.
