Bluebeards Castle

My husband and I came to St. Thomas for our 10-year anniversary, and the island was nice. This review is only about villas at Bluebeards Castle. What we booked and paid for through booking.com was completely misleading. Staff at the villa were rude and didn't seem to care. They told us booking.com often advertises rooms at other hotels as villas, which I first believed, until I checked the villa's own website and found the same photos there. So both are falsely advertising. We were still charged full price, with no discount. They don't clean during your stay, so trash builds up unless you take it out yourself. Our key cards malfunctioned every day too. The room was small, which made paying full price even more irritating. We won't stay there again.

The bar staff were AMAZING, sweet and helpful, and should be training the hotel staff in customer service. The women on the hotel staff were rude, and I don't know if they were jealous of women travelers, but their attitude was awful. The men were so nice and helpful. My flight got in at 10am, but check-in wasn't until 4pm, with no option to pay for an early room, so I waited five hours. You know tourists come here, and that kind of wait made me not want to return to this resort. Check-in at 4pm and checkout at 10am also makes for a poor experience. Other states allow more flexibility, and this place should do better with the rooms and timing.

We were there March 3rd through March 6th for a short visit, and everything went smoothly. The room was clean with plenty of towels, the pool bar food was excellent, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The woman at the little store was especially nice and gave us recommendations that were right on. Not a single issue. I even liked being on a hill since it was good exercise!

I felt safe traveling solo, and the location was convenient for Charlotte Amalie. There was ample parking, plus a pool, hot pool, and a gym with beautiful views. The room was spacious, spotless, and had a great view. Everything was well equipped, including a stove, refrigerator, microwave, cookware, and full set of dishes. The furniture was all new, clean, and in excellent shape. The only small drawback was the winding road up to the property, which had a few potholes. It didn't spoil a wonderful stay. I'd definitely come back!
