We booked at the last minute after someone we met on the trip suggested the hotel. The location is really handy, close to the town center, waterfront and shops, and the restaurant worker was lovely. We liked the food and the breakfast patio view. The woman at reception with two little buns in her hair was also very helpful when she called us a taxi. In daylight the place looks much nicer than it does at night, and I saw work underway to expand the business. Maybe we just got an older unit. After arriving in the dark, though, the hotel felt poorly lit and dingy. Some girls screamed when they spotted a water bug or roach near the pool. The room is very dated and badly needs renovation. The toilet paper holder was broken, the counters looked beaten up, and the bedroom AC made a strange noise all night. There were lots of mosquitoes inside, the light by the sofa didn’t work, and some of the window shade mechanisms were broken, so we couldn’t open them for more light.

The Bunker Hill Hotel is in a great spot, under two minutes from the main shopping street, and we enjoyed staying there. My wife and I especially liked the breakfast. You can choose eggs, pancakes or a bagel, and the pancakes were excellent. We were disappointed that the pools weren’t in use.

We had a nice couple of nights at bunker hill. The staff were helpful and very pleasant, the beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed both breakfast and the pool. The TV didn’t work, though it didn’t really bother us. It’s a cute place and very central. Parking was the tricky part. There are one-way streets and tight spaces all over, and our rental car got scraped while parked on the street. It seems to happen to a lot of cars. The building has only a spot or two, so most guests have to use street parking.

For the price, Bunker Hill Hotel is a great value, and I’d happily stay there again. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and the property had more character than I expected from the listing. The pool has a great view, too. There are lots of stairs, which felt typical for the area and part of the charm. Finding the hotel can be confusing. Google Maps tried to route us the wrong way down one-way streets, so keep that in mind when you arrive.

There’s no elevator, and several things in the room and around the property were serious problems. We had no hot water and took cold showers both days, and we couldn’t get the TV working. The pool ladder was rusted over, and an outlet on the patio was missing its cover, leaving wires exposed.
