Dolphin Suites

The shared balcony was a nice place to take in the views of Cruz Bay. There’s no private balcony, but you can step out, stand around, or bring a chair. The units are right beside a market, so picking up groceries or supplies was quick. If you have a jeep, you can park at the unit; otherwise taxis pass nearby and can take you to the beaches or Windmill Bar & Café. We rented from their sister company, Dolphin Jeep Rental, and got a 20% discount for staying at Dolphin Suites. The location is terrific, within an easy walk of Cruz Bay restaurants, shops, and Mongoose Junction, and also the foot ferry to and from St. Thomas. The unit felt brand new and was nicely and comfortably decorated. It’s on the small side but worked perfectly for a couple or a couple with one child. It came stocked with kitchen essentials, a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, washer, and dryer. The one minor downside is the 2.5 flights of stairs each day, which can get a little old. Still, the location and convenience make it worthwhile.

The 38 steps to the suite had us a bit worried at first, especially the first six concrete steps without a railing. After we spoke with Mustafa, we were assured railings would be installed on that initial section, and that made a big difference. We were glad we stayed. The unit was clean and new, had all the amenities including a washer and dryer, and the central Cruz Bay location made it easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Management was quick to respond to our requests. We’d stay again.

We’d happily come back if we get the chance. The apartment was spotless, modern, and had everything we needed for two. It’s also handy for town restaurants, the Lindt Point Trail and its hikes and beaches, with a grocery store just steps away.

The rooms are clean and modern, and the location is convenient, but the lighting was so bad that I wouldn’t stay here again, or anywhere within sight of the place. There are no dimmers in the rooms, and the driveway has several 400W floodlights. They’re blinding on the hill and make the parking lot feel lit for surgery. Even with the blinds shut, they shine into the bedroom. They may be visible from St. Thomas, maybe even space. The lights stay on all night, washing out the night sky and sunrise for thousands of people. I’d be angry if I lived nearby and had that glare spilling onto my property. A parking lot can be lit with far less energy and without throwing light across a multi-mile area. Please take these lights down.
