Sea Shore Allure

Dior was friendly and quick to respond, and the parking was convenient. The walk into town is only .3 miles, which we preferred to parking in Cruz Bay. Seashore Allure was one of the most stunning places I've stayed. Everything was spotless and comfortable, including the bed, and it had all we needed for cooking and beach visits. The amenities were even better than advertised. I'd happily book it again and hope to visit in the future.

We had a beautiful, comfortable room with a gorgeous view, and the property was just as well maintained as on our first visit. This was our second time at Sea Shore, returning to St. John to celebrate our 10-year anniversary after getting married here in 2015. Unfortunately, the customer service was far less responsive than it had been 10 years ago, and our three-week ordeal after the trip left a bad impression. We paid good money, and with only two couples staying there, expected better communication. Before our trip, they offered help with provisions and jeep rentals. We accepted the offer to arrange a jeep, but Ann Marie stopped replying before we left. When we asked for an update, she said she was having trouble finding one for our dates and promised to let us know either way. We heard nothing, and by the time we arrived we couldn't get a rental ourselves. If we'd known they couldn't help, we'd have arranged one in advance. Ann Marie was nice at check-in and said we'd received a slight room upgrade. There was only one other couple there, so most rooms were open. She didn't mention the jeep, and we didn't bring it up then. When she learned we were returning guests, she offered us a 10% discount and said we'd be credited. We appreciated it and, at the time, didn't care as much about the jeep issue. She said we'd hear more during the trip, but we didn't. I followed up at the end of the stay, then again when we got home, with no reply. Ann Marie eventually said Dior would process it and that the credit would appear in about seven days. After that time passed, I contacted them again and got no response. Only after more follow-ups did Ann Marie say management had to review our “request,” although the discount had been offered to us. She later called to say management denied it because our room was technically an “upgraded” room. She never apologized for offering the 10% discount, and no owner or manager ever replied. Our first stay 10 years ago had felt much more personal, and they had been responsive enough that we overlooked some downsides, including the location. Most taxis wouldn't go back there at night, and the walk from Cruz Bay nightlife isn't great late in the evening. One driver said many drivers dislike the road conditions on the way there. A jeep rental could solve that problem, but this time we couldn't get one arranged.

The quiet setting away from Cruz Bay was a big part of what made this place special. SeaShore Allure has a beautiful bay view, a private pool and hot tub, and it's only a five-minute drive from Cruz Bay and its activity. Before the trip, we got helpful connections and advice. Dior was always ready with food suggestions and places to go, and even helped with a birthday celebration. If you're after a peaceful, beautiful place on St John, this location has so much to offer.

Sea Shore Allure was a great place to stay, and the staff were outstanding. They were responsive by text and phone when we reported problems, though a few never got fixed. The satellite TV didn't work, the whirlpool tub had issues, the bathroom towel bar came off, and the water pressure once dropped to zero. The hot tub by the pool wasn't working either. Our ground-floor, one-bedroom villa was beautiful and well equipped. Staff met us on arrival, showed us around, and left a welcome basket. The pool area was lovely. The property is in a neighborhood at the end of a pothole-filled road, with some junk cars and boats around, and we could hear a dog barking most nights. We liked St. John and enjoyed our stay, but some things need attention.
