Sugar Bay Resort & Spa

We went to Sugar Bay for our honeymoon in December 2014, just before it switched to DREAMS. Construction was underway, with giant palm trees being planted when we first arrived, but things were peaceful, quiet, and mostly clean. The staff were amazing from the moment we got there, greeting us with smiles and giving great help with every request, even with the construction and a few detours. Our stay was memorable. The water supply wasn't great, but we made do. The one thing my husband would say is that the pool was too cold. Still, we can't wait to return to the upgraded resort and are trying to find a way back ASAP.

My husband and I had our honeymoon here in 2017 and left about three days before the hurricane hit. We had a beautiful room with a great view, and the pool, bars, and staff were all part of some of our best memories. We met some wonderful people. It's sad to hear they haven't been able to recover from the hurricane. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The view was beautiful, the pool was nice, and the regular staff and bartenders were friendly. Management was awful, though. They wrote down our complaints and acted concerned, but nothing got fixed. The elevator to our room was completely dark because the light wasn't working, and it took 36 hours to repair. The room fan shook violently on medium or high and seemed like it could come off the ceiling at any time. I reported it every one of our three days there, with no action. The AC roared at night, so keep the TV on if you want to drown it out. Don't pay extra for an Ocean Room. They insisted ours qualified because we had a bay view and could see a glimmer of ocean over a mountaintop. Noodles Bar, included in the all-inclusive package, ran out of noodles more than an hour before closing on two occasions. On our last day, they were missing 50% of the items by 4pm, despite opening at 3pm. They tried to send us back to the regular restaurant, which sold burgers and sandwiches. This is my first review, but I thought the problems were worth flagging. If someone bought the place, it could be paradise.

St. Thomas is absolutely beautiful, and our room had a gorgeous view. The beach and pool were beautiful too, and the staff were so, so nice. I booked an all-inclusive deal through Living Social and was really happy with it. The food was great considering the package, and there were several places to eat. Staying at Sugar Bay was possibly the best week I've ever had. I've been checking weekly for another Living Social deal, but haven't found one. I hope it comes back, because I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Sugar Bay!
